From food and wine festivals, to music and cultural celebrations, there is always something happening in this vibrant region of Australia. Below are some of the top seasonal events in and around the city of Launceston.

Summer:

Taste of Tasmania - Held in Hobart in late December and early January, this food and wine festival showcases the best of Tasmania's produce and culinary delights. Visitors can enjoy wine and cheese tastings, live music, and cooking demonstrations from some of the state's top chefs.

Festivale - Each February, the city of Launceston comes alive with Festivale, a three-day celebration of food, wine, and entertainment. Visitors can sample local wines and cuisine, browse the artisan markets, and enjoy live music performances from local and international artists.

Autumn:

Tasmanian Craft Fair - Held in the nearby town of Deloraine each November, the Tasmanian Craft Fair is a celebration of all things handmade and homegrown. Visitors can browse stalls from over 200 artisans, from woodworkers and blacksmiths, to pottery makers and textile artists.

Launceston Harvest Farmers' Market - The weekly farmers' market in Launceston is a great way to sample the region's seasonal produce, including fresh fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses, and homemade preserves. Visitors can chat with local farmers and food producers, and pick up some tasty treats to take home.

Winter:

Dark Mofo - Each June, the city of Hobart hosts Dark Mofo, a celebration of winter that combines art, music, and culture with a dash of the macabre. Highlights include the famous Nude Solstice Swim, a procession of giant puppets, and a fire-lit feast in the heart of the city.

Launceston Jazz Festival - The Launceston Jazz Festival takes place each July, and brings together some of Australia's finest jazz musicians for a weekend of lively performances and workshops. Visitors can enjoy local food and wine while they listen to the smooth sounds of the saxophone, trumpet, and double bass.

Spring:

Tasmanian Tulip Festival - Held in nearby Wynyard, the Tasmanian Tulip Festival is a riot of color and fragrance as thousands of tulips burst into bloom each October. Visitors can wander through the vibrant fields, take part in garden tours and workshops, and enjoy live music and local food stalls.

Launceston Festiv arti - Each November, the Launceston Festivale Art Prize Exhibition showcases a range of contemporary artworks from local and national artists. Visitors can view paintings, sculptures, photographs, and mixed media works, and even purchase pieces to take home.
